Life and Death
Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." This powerful verse underscores the life-altering impact of our words. It reminds us that our speech carries the potential to either breathe life into others or bring about their demise. Every word we speak has weight and consequences. Our words can inspire, encourage, and uplift, or wound, discourage, and destroy. Therefore, we must be mindful of our chosen words, for they shape the world around us and determine the fruit we bear.
Good and Evil
The book of James provides a vivid analogy to illustrate the influence of the tongue:
Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.
