The Miracle Among You

Updated: Feb 3

When I was tasked with this article, I was unsure about where to start. Seriously though, when you think about miracles in the Holy Bible, your head spins. There are countless examples in the Holy Bible, but a search only brings up 17 results. This is because miracles are performed, not named.

We know that God brought the Israelites out of Egypt through the appointing of Moses. After Pharaoh let them go, he decided to pursue the Israelites. God told Moses what to do and he parted the sea. This is probably the greatest example, because the Israelites fled and crossed to the other side. While the sea closed in behind them, the sea swallowed the Egyptians (Exodus 14. )

Spiritual Gift of Miracles

Paul didn't want us to be kept unaware of the spiritual gifts that are manifested through the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 12: 11). My brother or sister, these gifts are distributed among us as He wills it. Articles have already been written on the spiritual gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, and healing. Performing miracles is another spiritual gift that can be done by you, through God's will. It is true that Jesus performed miracles. It is also true, that you can do this too. Keep in mind, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:15 NKJV).

Beloved, I want to take you into the Holy Bible. You may recall the passages where Jesus was asleep on a boat near Capernaum. A storm came and the disciples were afraid. Jesus rebuked the storm, and the winds and the sea calmed down. (Matthew 8:25-27). But, I want to ask you this one thing: do you know of the miracles performed by God through Aaron, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, and more? These men are in the Old Testament.

What about the men in the New Testament? Peter and Paul, and others performed various miracles. In Acts Chapter 3:1-10, the Holy Bible tells us that a lame man was healed through Peter. The book of Acts 19:11 says that, "God worked unusual miracles by [the apostle] Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and evil spirits went out of them." The Holy Bible is filled with examples of miracles performed. If you are wondering about miracles performed after Jesus ascended into Heaven, check out the Book of Acts.

The fog lifted as we descended from Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. The mountain is known as the most dangerous small mountain in the world. Truth be told, it was a miracle that I climbed it to begin with. I was not physically prepared. Photo credit: Maeghan Dos Anjos

Why Miracles?

Miracles are necessary for the deliverance of evil spirits, and for the healing of the sick (recall what the Holy Bible says, and what I cited earlier regarding Paul in the Book of Acts 19:11). These are the things that cause the hunger and the thirst for God to grow. Miracles are a way of God showing you that He is still Lord, and that he cares about humanity. This causes the hearts of those in sin, to turn from their ways, and begin their path to a better future and hope (Jeremiah 29:1). Christianity is beyond religion, it is about believing! Hallelujah!

But why miracles? No matter where you go, you'll run into someone that wants proof, or a sign. How do I know this? Because it's mentioned time a time again, over and over, and you can find these in the Holy Bible. For example, the scribes and the Pharisees asked Jesus for a sign, and He told them that no sign would be given, except for the sign of Jonah (Matthew 12:39). In Genesis, God makes a covenant with Noah that He will never destroy the earth again by means of a flood, and the sign of this covenant would be a rainbow among the clouds (Genesis 9). Even God says how long will people reject Him despite the signs that He shows (Numbers 14:11). Miracles aren't meant for your belief, it's meant for those around you, and the person you are helping.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, if you are reading this article through the end, I believe that God wants to have you perform miracles through His will and the Holy Spirit. I pray that this is the case for you, and that you'll receive this spiritual gift. Perhaps you saw this page and thought you are in need of a miracle. If the latter applies to you, then I pray that you receive the miracle that you need according to the will of our Father, and that you perform miracles through the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, amen!

If you are not a believer, pray this prayer with me:

Father which is in Heaven, I believe that you sent your only begotten son, Jesus Christ so that my sins and debt can be forgiven. I believe that He was born from a virgin and walked the earth, died on the cross, and on the third day early morning, he rose from the dead. I believe that He went to the heavens to make me a place in Heaven. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray this prayer, and I believe it in my heart, and I ask that the Holy Spirit comes and turns me from my sins and help me serve the Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen!
