Evangelizing 101

April 14, 2024—Those of us who are truly saved worry for the lives and souls of others. We know they have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Now, when someone does not believe in Jesus as their Savior, they are walking in condemnation (John 3:18). We want to save them, but we do not know how.

Beloved, first, it is not you who saves, but Jesus. When you evangelize, are you heeding the voice of the Holy Spirit, or are you using your emotions to drive the speech? Speaking of Jesus isn’t going to cut it for a lot of people. You need to explain why Jesus was and is necessary. To do that, you need to know the Holy Bible. Therefore, read the Holy Bible and speak to the Holy Spirit. Pray, pray, pray!

Once you are familiar with the Holy Bible and you have been baptized, you are ready to preach the gospel. To teach unbelievers, some Christians point to the “Roman Road,” which Paul lines up in the book of Romans:

Evangelize in the Law

The law is essential to acknowledge because “Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” (Romans 3:20). Again, Paul explains that if he had not known the law, he would not know what sin was (Romans 7:7). Now if you do not know sin, you will not see that you are breaking the law of God. How can you possibly understand that you need Jesus, who died for your sin when you cannot explain it? Thus, explain the law to nonbelievers first. Then, show them Jesus.

To do this, go to the Roman Road as mentioned above and explain it with biblical passages:

  1. God created Adam and Eve, the first man and woman on earth (Genesis 1-2)

    1. He warned Adam not to eat of the tree of good and knowledge, or they would surely die (Genesis 2:17).

  2. Eve did not listen and was deceived by Satan. She ate of the tree and gave it to Adam to eat as well (Genesis 3). Before this point, sin and death had not entered the earth. When they ate, their eyes were opened, and they could perceive good and evil. Thus, God issued the death warrant to Adam (3:19) for his disobedience to God, which is sin.

    1. Sin was passed from Adam to all people (Romans 5:12-19).

    2. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). Use the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5; Ask them if they have ever used God’s name in vain or told a lie.

  3. God already judged the world once by a massive flood (Genesis 6-7).

    1. Only eight people survived God’s wrath (1 Peter 3:20).

    2. Judgment is coming again, but by fire (Isaiah 66:25-26, Matthew 25:41, 2 Peter 3:7).

  4. To be saved from God’s wrath, believe in Jesus Christ.

    1. Anyone who believes in Jesus will not act quickly (Isaiah 28:16).

    2. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:18).

    3. “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

Accepting Jesus

Maybe you came across this page looking for something else. Perhaps you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. Now is the time to accept Him into your life, by saying this prayer aloud:

God, I confess that Jesus came in the flesh and blood, paid the price for my sins, died on the cross, rose on the third day, ascended to the heavens, and sent the Holy Spirit to help me understand Your ways. For that, I accept Jesus Christ as my savior and Lord, and I welcome the Holy Spirit in my life. In Jesus’s name, I pray, amen!
